Cognizant GenC 2026 — Eligibility Criteria

Eligibility Overview

Cognizant has two separate sets of eligibility criteria depending on which track you are applying for. The IT & Integrated Smart Operations track has stricter academic requirements, while the Multicloud and Digital Workplace Services tracks are open to a wider range of degree holders.

Read both criteria carefully to understand which tracks you qualify for before applying.

Criteria for IT & Integrated Smart Operations Track

The IT & ISO track requires a specific set of 3-year undergraduate degrees with a higher aggregate requirement:

CriteriaRequirement
Eligible DegreesBCA, BSc (CS/IT/allied streams), BSc Math, BSc Physics, BSc Chemistry, BSc Statistics, BSc Electronics
Degree Duration3-year full-time program
Graduation Year2026 batch
Minimum Aggregate60% (no rounding — 59.9% does NOT qualify)
10th StandardConsistent 60% or above
12th Standard / DiplomaConsistent 60% or above
UG Aggregate60% or above
Standing ArrearsNo standing arrears at the time of application

The 60% threshold is absolute — there is no rounding. If your aggregate is 59.9%, you do not qualify for the IT & ISO track. CGPA to percentage conversion should follow your university's official norms.

Criteria for Multicloud & Digital Workplace Services Tracks

The Multicloud and DWS tracks have more inclusive eligibility requirements, accepting a wider range of 3-year degree programs:

CriteriaRequirement
Eligible DegreesAny 3-year UG degree — BCA, BSc, BA, BBA, BCom, BVoc, BMS, and equivalent programs
Degree Duration3-year full-time program
Graduation Year2026 batch
Minimum Aggregate50% (no rounding — 49.9% does NOT qualify)
Standing ArrearsNo standing arrears at the time of application

This is a great opportunity for non-CS graduates. If you hold a BA, BBA, BCom, or any other 3-year degree with 50% marks, you are eligible for the Multicloud or DWS tracks.

Common Requirements (All Tracks)

The following requirements apply regardless of which track you are targeting:

  • You must be a 2026 batch graduate completing a 3-year full-time degree program
  • Indian nationals and OCI (Overseas Citizen of India) holders currently residing in India are eligible
  • You must have no standing arrears at the time of application — all backlogs must be cleared
  • You must maintain at least 60% aggregate at the time of joining (applicable for IT & ISO track)
  • You should be willing to work from any Cognizant office across India
  • You should be flexible to work in any shift and with any technology as assigned
  • Prior work experience is not considered — this is strictly a freshers hiring program

CGPA to Percentage Conversion

If your university uses CGPA instead of percentage, follow these guidelines:

  • Use your university's official conversion formula — this is the only accepted method
  • If your university does not have an official formula, contact your examination cell for a conversion certificate
  • Common conversion: CGPA x 9.5 = Percentage (only valid if your university follows this standard)
  • Do NOT use any third-party or internet-sourced conversion formulas — Cognizant will verify against university norms
  • Keep a copy of your university's official CGPA-to-percentage conversion certificate ready for verification

Misrepresenting your percentage during application will lead to offer revocation during document verification, even after completing the interview rounds.

Arrear / Backlog Policy

Cognizant has a strict policy on academic arrears:

  • No standing arrears are allowed at the time of application — all arrears must be cleared before you apply
  • Cleared arrears are acceptable as long as your overall aggregate meets the threshold (60% for IT & ISO, 50% for Multicloud/DWS)
  • If you have arrears that will be cleared before the joining date, confirm with the recruiter whether conditional applications are accepted
  • A history of cleared arrears may be discussed during the interview — be prepared to explain what you learned from the experience

Nationality & Residency

The following nationality and residency criteria apply:

  • Indian citizens are eligible to apply
  • OCI (Overseas Citizen of India) card holders currently residing in India are eligible
  • You must be legally eligible to work in India at the time of joining
  • Candidates currently residing outside India are not eligible for this specific hiring drive

Who is NOT Eligible?

You are not eligible for this Cognizant hiring drive if:

  • You hold a 4-year degree (B.Tech, B.E., etc.) — this drive is specifically for 3-year degree holders
  • You are from a batch other than 2026 — only current-year graduates qualify
  • Your aggregate is below 60% (for IT & ISO) or below 50% (for Multicloud/DWS) in any academic stage
  • You have standing arrears that are not yet cleared
  • You are pursuing a part-time, correspondence, or distance education degree
  • You are already employed at Cognizant through another hiring channel
  • Your degree is from a non-recognized university (not approved by UGC/AICTE)

If you hold a 4-year B.Tech/B.E. degree, look for separate Cognizant hiring drives targeted at engineering graduates. This specific drive is exclusively for 3-year degree holders.

Eligibility Checklist

Before applying, verify that you meet all these requirements:

  • You are graduating in 2026 with a 3-year full-time degree
  • Your 10th, 12th, and UG aggregate each meet the minimum threshold for your target track
  • You have zero standing arrears
  • You are an Indian citizen or OCI holder currently in India
  • You are willing to relocate to any Cognizant office and work in any shift
  • You have not misrepresented any academic information in your application
  • You have your academic documents and conversion certificates ready for verification
